SLAB is down!!

Just got a call from a mate of mine who did a drive by saying that they were just finishing off pouring our slab!! We also got our sign and silt fence...

S managed to stop by after work and took a few photos....

Bring on the frame and brickwork!

Piers Done!

On Friday I got two calls in the space of 5 minutes, 1st was from our SS saying that he was at our block and that our piers had been done! But to top that off he said that the plumbing and waffles were due Mon and Tues for the slab to be poured on Wednesday!!!!! About 5 secs after hanging up from our SS the phone rang again - this time from Di Lorenzo saying it was time for us to make an appointment to do our tile selections!

Talk about a great way to finish the week! Hopefully everything goes to plan next week and we get to have our slab on Wednesday.

Managed to get out to the block today and took a few pics - appears the electrician was there this morning as the main conduit had been run.

Site Start!

Well we finally have a start! Our site was done last Friday and hopefully they can progress as much as possible before the end of the year.

Frustration

I went out to our block to check out the work that was supposed to be done today and when I get there.....nothing. No a single bit of dirt moved....Next door seemed to be moving along as there was a little excavator there doing all the work for the plumbing etc....

So I give B at Wisdom a call and tell her that I am sitting out the front of our block and that nothing has happened - she puts me on hold and contacts the construction crew who inform her that due to all the rain last night they were unable to work today.....I pause for a moment, look at the land which is bone dry and say "what rain?" I later confirmed via the BOM website that the local measuring station (which btw is accross the road from our estate) took a measurement of 0.2mm for the 24hrs yesterday. Seems that if it rains anywhere in the state the contractors can call a rain delay...pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Not impressed in the slightest. And on top of that it will not be done till Thursday now....not looking forward to telling my DW when she gets home from work as she is sick of the delays as it is.

Not a good start...but I have faith that if they proceed like they have done for so many other then it should be full steam ahead shortly.

Booked for Scrape

Got an email from Bianca this morning which said that we were confirmed for our site scrape for next Tuesday!!!

Which is fantastic news as this will be our official site start and hopefully the rain will stay away and they can lay the slab straight away.

Will be interesting to compare the progress with our next door neighbour who was scraped sometime in the last couple of days. They are building with EB and it will be great to compare construction standards etc...

Will try and get some pics as soon as we have been scraped.

Pegged

Well after a few false starts we are finally pegged out - Wisdom were under the impression that it had already been done but everytime we went past there was nothing - so they had the surveyor go back out yesterday and do them again....this time when we went past we were greeted with this.



Which is super exciting as it is hopefully and indicator that it won't be long till we get scraped!! Anita told us that it has been booked but they cannot give us a date yet as there a few other jobs going through at the moment.

Another thing that has happened is we have decided to do our own flooring after handover. The areas that are normally tiled by the builder downstairs are now going to be timber as one of the new brothers in law is a floorer by trade in Perth and he has offered to come over and lay the flooring for nothing we just have to provide the refreshments ;)

Oh and due to those strong winds we have had recently we lost the tree that was on our nature strip...



not sure if they are going to replace it or not at this stage, will put a call into the developer to see if they know anything.

CC and More Waiting

Well we received our final pack in the mail just over a week ago - which we have subsequently signed and posted back to Wisdom.

They submitted out CC application straight away and we were advised that is was supposed to be ready Monday or Tuesday this week but as of this morning (Wednesday) there was still no sign of it....

We have been told that once we have the approved CC they can send our file to the estimators but as there are quite a few other files going as well they have no idea how long it will be with the estimators before they can start on site. We have not received our pegout yet for the block yet 2 other blocks in our section (land registered at the same time) have already been slabbed!!! Frustration is starting to grow with each passing day with nothing happening and with no idea as to when something might happen....

Hopefully the next update will be a little more fruitful.

EDIT - just got a call from Bianca at Wisdom who said that she has now got the approved CC!!! YAY! She also said that the block should have already been pegged and they will chase that up and that she is going to do what she can to get our file in and out of estimating as quickly as possible.
