We have Settlement!!

Well it finally happened!!!

Just got off the phone with the solicitor who said that settlement has been done and Stockland even decided to not charge penalty interest which is fantastic!!

So happy that this part of the build has finished - now we simply await our DA approval and then we can really get started.

Bloody Banks

Well what a tiring 24 hours!!

We were scheduled to settle today but at 5pm yesterday I received a phone call from the solicitor saying that the bank had lost our mortgage documents and that they would be unable to settle!! What made matters worse was that we were due to get a monetary rebate from Stockland provided that we settle within the given period after registration. So we were freaking out that we would no longer receive the rebate due to missing the deadline.

After running around today re-signing the mortgage documents and dropping them off at the bank ourselves we should hopefully be ready to settle either tomorrow or Friday. The good news is that Stockland were sympathetic about the whole thing and said that we would still get the rebate.

I hope that everything from hear goes a little smoother :)

Welcome to our Blog!!

With our DA pack being submitted we felt it was about time we started a blog about our experience.

We put a deposit on our block back in Janurary 2009 and then proceeded to go from builder to builder looking for that "special" home. When we first saw the Aspiration 32mk2 by Wisdom Homes we knew immediately that this was the home for us.

So over the next few months while we waited for our land to be registered we spent time adjusting the plans to exactly what we wanted - well at least as far as our budget allowed ;)

Ground Floor

Top Floor

Centro Facade

As you can probably see we have made a few changes to the standard floor plan as we were not huge fans of the walk through kitchen so we walled that off and combined the downstairs toilet and laundry into one room. We have also extended both the study and alfresco areas by 1m each along with a few other minor details.

Overall we are extremely excited about the whole process but I must admit that trying to plan this along with planning our upcoming wedding in July has been a little crazy!!!

Once we have DA approval expect many pictures and updates to follow!
