Locked Up and Stairs!!

So we are now officially at lockup stage as all our external doors (except the garage door) have been fitted and the place can be closed up for the xmas break! Its exciting, but also bit of a bummer as unless a tradie is there we will be unable to get in to grab pics when things get done.

When I was there today I found a guy there working on the cornices and he had finished about half the house - said he would stay as late as possible and would probably be back early in Jan to finish it all off as he would have about 1/2 a days work left after today. He was also under the impression that the waterproofing was still scheduled for tomorrow but whether or not it will actually happen he couldn't say.

Also some of the internal doors/architraves had been started and....wait for it.....the stairs have been fitted. So no more climbing up and down the ladder! It looks really good and we are really happy we chose to fit a door from the study for a storage area as there is quite a bit of room under there.

As this is likely to be our last update for the DECADE I will finish this off with a

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We will be back in Jan with hopefully lots and lots of pics as we get closer and closer to moving into our new home!

Plastered!

Well this weekend we managed to get completely plastered! It was a pleasant surprise to find a whole team of gyprockers working on our place on early Saturday morning when we went out to the block.....what was a bigger surprise was to find them still working at 5pm on Sunday afternoon!!! They were just finishing up when we got there and when we asked about why they were working on a Sunday they said it is because the stairs were being done on Monday!!

So it looks like we will still make lockup for tomorrow as apart from the stairs the only others things to be done is the waterproofing and fitting the doors!

Oh and I did manage to take a few pics ;)

Progress!!

So over the last couple of weeks there hasn't been a whole lot of work done on our place, which has been extremely dissapointing. The only thing done since the 1/12 was the plumber came back and fixed a few things that we were not happy with after his initial fitout.

Well all that changed as of last Friday when the electrician (who is a nasty piece of work - however that is a story for another time) came out and did his rough in and yesterday the carpenters were back working on the rest of the eaves/cladding along with the guys installing all of the insulation.

I had to drive out to the house this morning and ensure all the cables for the HT room were sorted as according to our SS the gyprock was going to be delivered today and possibly may even start going in today. Sure enough when I got there around 8am the truck was there and the guys were unloading all the boards to both up and down stairs. The carpenters were also there finishing off their work. I managed to have a quick chat with them and they felt they would be done by around lunch time and they were under the impression that they gyprockers were due today as well....so fingers crossed they turn up!

Oh and I managed to grab a couple of quick shots while I was there as well.

Clean Bricks!

Well I popped out to the block this morning and found that they had finished the remainder of the roof tiles for the lower roof sections and that the cleaners had been back and cleaned off the rest of the brickwork and it looks great now - a couple of patches of bricks that appear a little "scuffed" (perhaps from the cleaning) as they are a smooth face brick but overall the colour looks great.

Now we just await the carpenters to come back and do the rest of the eaves and the cladding and I believe the sparky is due in the next week or so to do his rough in.

Hopefully we will get a few more updates in before the xmas shut down.

Lower Roof nearly done!

Well last week they got started on the lower roof and were able to get most of it done, with the gutter and fascia going up on Thursday and the majority of the tiles were done on the Friday. They are due back again today to finish off the tiles and then the rest of the bricks are due to be cleaned along with the carpenters to do the lower eaves.

We also receieved our kitchen plans last week and with only a couple of small changes (like cupboards to pot drawers) we were able to sign that off on Friday which means the sparky can be booked for his rough in sometime in the next week or so. After that they can then put the insulation in followed by the gyprock. We are getting an inspection done by Howard so that will be in there somewhere as well.

On Saturday my cabler and I went back to the house and ran all the cabling for the security system that we are installing instead of the standard one which took most of the day and it felt really good to be back at the house working on it again. We only have one or two things to tidy up prior to the gyprock going up and then nothing till after the painting has been done when we will have to do the fitout.

According to our SS the plan is to get the whole house plastered by the time they shut down for Xmas and if everything goes smoothly perhaps even a little more done, but if they get the plastering done I will be happy at this point.

Of couse I have some pics to show the progress ;)

All the scaffloding came down last week.

Data Networking

Well on Sunday our cabler and I went out to the house and ran all the network cabling (all 23 points of it) through to where the rack is going to be located under the stairs. I must say that it felt really good to be working on our house rather than just looking at it :)

Whilst we were there we also ran all the speaker wire for the Home Theatre as well as for the alfresco. We also planned the run for the HDMI in the HT room however the cable itself will not be put in place till right at the last minute to avoid anyone just deciding to help themselves to my new cable.

No pics at this stage as I forgot to take the camera (slaps forhead) but I will make sure we get some shots of it on our next visit later in the week.

Pic Fest

Well we made it out to the block yesterday for our regular Wednesday visit and discovered that they had completed around half of the upper eaves along with around 1/3 of the cladding which was a bit of a surprise as we were not expecting the cladding to be done yet. Both sections appear to already be painted so perhaps they are booked for a second coat today as our SS mentioned the painters were booked for Wednesday...

Also while they were there it appears that all of the external door frames have been fitted along with the cavity sliding door in the laundry and they have also fitted some extra strips of timber between the studs where we may wish to wall mount a TV later which was a nice touch. They have also removed all of the supporting beams from within each room which were previously secured to the floor - this makes moving around the house so much easier and also gives you more of a feel as to how big each room is.

Now we just await the lower roof to be done so fingers crossed the weather starts to be a little more cooperative from here until Xmas.
